Two ways we help
You own or will inherit in France
For French and British residents of the Channel Islands whose estate includes assets in France. We help you plan and settle cross-border successions, understand French inheritance rules — including forced heirship (réserve héréditaire) — choose the right matrimonial regime, and stay on top of French property tax.
You are buying or investing in France
For Channel Islands residents purchasing a home, a second property or a business asset in France. We guide you through the French purchase process, the role of the notaire, ownership structures such as the SCI, and the tax that applies to non-residents.
How we help
Buying & selling property
Purchases, sales and off-plan (VEFA) in France, from the compromis de vente to the final deed.
Succession & inheritance
Cross-border estates, French wills, EU succession rules and forced-heirship planning.
Matrimonial regimes
Advice on the regime that protects your partner and your French assets.
Tax for non-residents
French property tax, capital gains and wealth tax (IFI) for those living outside France.
SCI & business
Holding French property through an SCI or company, and structuring business assets.
Advice sessions in Jersey
Regular in-person appointments in Saint Helier to discuss your situation face to face.
Across the whole of France
Wherever your property lies — throughout metropolitan France, Corsica and the overseas departments — your transaction can be handled with the same rigour. And where a matter calls for it, we travel to be present in person, at the client’s request.
What is a French notaire?
In France, a notaire is a public officer appointed by the State. Nearly every property sale and most successions must go through a notaire, who guarantees the legal security of the transaction, holds funds in a regulated account and registers deeds with the authorities. For buyers used to the English or Channel Islands system, the notaire carries out much of what a solicitor and a conveyancer would do — within one impartial, regulated framework.
